knowing that you need to go within, a soul portrait could be that beautiful
inspiration for further exploration.
I attended a soul portraits workshop back in November, not realizing the
understanding that it would bring me about my artwork. Art, already having
been a significant part of my life before the workshop, became an even
deeper form of expression afterward. With Mari's interpretation of
everyone's portrait, and the beautiful energy that surfaced in the room that
day, I came to realize that art, in any form, is really a spiritual practice
that can allow flow from a place so vast and beautiful. These colours and
forms that flowed from our souls and beyond were reflections of an inner
landscape that most of us don't recognize as important in our day to day
lives. Whether we encountered darkness or light on our journey of
exploration, we were enabled to dive deeper into our inner selves, maybe
finding clarity in one aspect of our life, or coming to a definite answer
about how to confront another aspect of our lives.
I personally was awakened to the idea of 'flow'; really allowing myself to
let go. And although this is something that will be an ongoing journey, Mari
really opened my eyes to using my art as a form of growth - learning from
the 'flow' about what is going on in the depths of my spirit. I now try to
do a soul portrait at least, once every few days, and am learning so much
each step of the way. I encourage those who are curious to take that first
step in uncovering the mask that we all carry, to unearth the beauty that is
within.

Using
