I am currently working remotely. If remote sessions are not possible due to exceptional circumstances, we may be able to meet in person if we are both wearing masks. In-person sessions will be unavailable if either of us have, in the 14 days prior to a session:
travelled outside of the Yukon Territory;
had any symptoms or an active diagnosis of COVID-19;
come into contact with someone who has travelled outside YT; and/or
been in physical contact with someone who has symptoms or an active diagnosis of COVID-19.
Clients attending in-person sessions will be informed of the risks of doing so and will be asked to provide verbal and/or written consent. If you would like additional information on my COVID-19 Operational Plan, please do not hesitate to ask me when we meet. Please note, in the event that a COVID-19 infection is linked to me or my office space, I may be required by law to release identifying information about anyone I have been in close physical contact with within a certain time frame.
Regarding remote sessions, research has shown that videoconferencing can be as effective as in-person counselling. I will continue to use a videoconferencing platform that is PIPEDA compliant; however, it's important to know that any information transmitted over the internet or telephone may not be secure. Additionally, telephone counselling can also be a convenient alternative, but there may be an increased risk of misinterpretations as visual cues are absent.
